Product Review: Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water (Aloe Water), Rosa Damascena (Rose) Hydrosol, Leucidal (Radish Root Ferment), Hibiscus Sabdariffa (Hibiscus Flower) Extract, Neer Sikkappu Red.

Admittedly, I do have a thing for face mists—but truly, I think this one is something very special. It has an elegant, minimalist ingredient list. It has a beautiful, subtle natural scent that is something a little more complicated and mellow than just rose alone. It’s ideally refreshing and hydrating…

To be honest, when I first saw this product, I wasn’t terribly interested in it. Coconut water and hibiscus are not my favorite things (to drink, anyways). I was imagining sticky coconut water and sickly-sweet hibiscus tea. (I know these are both very popular beverages, and excellent for your health—I’m definitely in the minority as someone who doesn’t care for them.) However, this mist is anything but! It feels so beautiful and calming, and the farthest thing from the sticky or sweet. It feels very pure and clean, and I adore using it as a toner or as a mid-day pick me up.

Here is the list of product benefits, as listed on Dermstore.com:

Key Benefits:

  • Instantly revitalizes and rehydrates the skin
  • Hibiscus flower petals, rich in citric and malic acid, exfoliate skin and support cellular turnover
  • Witch hazel tightens skin and reduces inflammation or puffiness
  • Rose extract protects against free-radical damage
  • Aloe vera moisturizes skin

I love aloe vera and witch hazel for hydrating and calming the skin. I think that the citric and malic acids naturally present in the hibiscus flower petals ingredient are going to be very minimal and should not interfere with your typical exfoliation regimen.

I think this could easily suit most all skins, unless there is a specific ingredient allergy involved. It’s pure hydration, and therefore could benefit very dry to very oily skins alike. As we transition into the cooler months, I highly recommend looking into this product!
